2025 Blanc De Noirs | "Thud" | Tualatin Hills AVA
In 1955 the F-105 Thunderchief, aptly nicknamed “Thud”, was the largest single-seat, single-engine combat aircraft in history. With a capacity larger than most WWII bombers, it was the workhorse of OP Rolling Thunder. This operation embodied the conundrum of Vietnam with bureaucracy & corporate interests restricting command from targeting vital objectives over N. Vietnam. Limited to bombing bridges and logistics, pilots ran a gauntlet along “Thud Ridge” with strict orders not to engage the enemy. Because of this, the Thud became the only U.S. aircraft to be removed from combat due to losses. This forced a cultural change within the fighter community; which independently created Ex. Red Flag and pushed command to supplement the F-15 with the F-16. » Winemaking notes: From Pinot Noir clones 777 and 115 grown at La Dolce Vita Vineyard in the Tualatin Hills AVA, on southeast-facing Laurelwood soils shaped by the Missoula Floods 12,000 years ago. "THUD" reimagines Pinot Noir as a white wine — picked early, pressed gently, fermented clean, and bottled dry without animal-based fining agents. Pure vineyard expression, delivered with impact. Dry – no residual sugar No fining agents or animal products used » Tasting notes: Thud is coming in hot with fresh aromas of lemongrass, white peach, crisp apple, and pear! This bouquet paves the way for a palate of mouthwatering acids and tropical fruits. Extended yeast contact and a malo-lactic fermentation lend to a rounded textured mouthfeel making it a robust delight. Bring your wingman because this is not your average blanc noir! » Ingredients: Pinot Noir grapes, water, yeast*, nutrient*, sulfite. *Yeast, bacteria, and nutrients were used during fermentation and removed by natural settling and filtration. » Specs: 12.9% Alc./Vol. 750 mL pH: 3.4 | TA: 6.01 g/L Vineyard: La Dolce Vita Vineyards AVA: Tualatin Hills 160 Cases produced
