Penfolds, Bin 2 Shiraz Mataro, 2021-2023

Lovers of red burg will snort with derision at the thought of a Penfolds shiraz being ANYTHING LIKE a Burgundian Pinot Noir. They're kind of opposites in my mind. BUT that is indeed what the original Bin 2 set out to do - a softer, more refined style that might be termed 'the Australian Burgundy'. And with countless awards and flawless scores, who are we to argue with Penfolds. I am. Because that is bollocks. This is nothing like a Pinot Noir. It is BOISTROUS in all the best ways. Epic, spicy, oaky...because that's what Penfolds does best. By the way - Vinissimus are ripping ppl off on this one, it's worth somewhere between £25-30. Still a barmy deal!
