Developed in collaboration with Pan American World Airways (PanAm), the GMT-Master allowed wearers to track two time zones simultaneously through the use of an additional 24-hour hand combined with a rotating bezel — a highly practical innovation for long-haul international travel. Presented here is the iconic reference 1675, one of the longest-running and most beloved GMT-Master references ever produced. Compared to its predecessor, the 1675 introduced several important updates, including the addition of crown guards and the transition from fragile Bakelite bezels to far more durable aluminium inserts. This particular example is executed in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, giving it the coveted “/3” designation among collectors, or in official Rolex terminology: “Rolesor.” The combination perfectly balances the GMT-Master’s sporty origins with a more luxurious and versatile appearance.
