Orchid Orchid Epidendrum radicans Tropical Plant rooted divisions Epidendrum radicans is a species of orchid native to Central America and northern South America. This orchid is characterized by its ability to sprout roots along the entire length of its stem. Common names include Reed orchid, Crucifix orchid, Fire-star orchid. It is a herbaceous plant with a terrestrial habit (it grows on the ground, not on trees like most orchid in trade), generally on rocks, being very variable, with long and fleshy aerial roots that come out of the stems.
