18th C. Truchas Master Santero Polychrome Bulto

The wide-spreading mantle/cape (manto) is a classic presentation for Nuestra Señora (Our Lady) figures — possibly Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, or a related Marian form. The carving quality, paint layer stratigraphy, wood aging, and worm/insect damage pattern are consistent with 18th–early 19th century work. 16″ H X 8″ W X 4″ D
