En avril 2025, Geoffroy Pithon est en résidence à The Mothership (Tanger) en compagnie de Vincent Tuset-Anrès, directeur artistique de Fotokino. Utilisant les ressources du jardin ainsi que des minéraux trouvés au marché de Tanger ou provenant de Provence, ils ont créé une gamme de couleurs naturelles, utilisée simultanément par Geoffroy sur un papier d’emballage acheté sur place. Cet ouvrage rend compte de ce moment, avec une sélection des dessins réalisés et un texte manuscrit imprimé en Riso et encarté dans l’ouvrage. « On broie les plantes, lentement, comme des novices, d’une science antédiluvienne. Bricoleurs, découvrant les prémices de cette alchimie de jardin et d’atelier. On cuit et l’on écrase les feuilles, les écorces, les roches trouvés dans les replis du jardin ou dans les boutiques de cosmétiques naturelles. On en tire des encres épaisses, vivantes, encore en train de changer. Rien ne se stabilise : une couleur naît, puis se déplace déjà vers autre chose, plus sombre, plus trouble, ou plus ouverte, une tisane, une soupe, un marc de café, une craie, une boue. Je peins aussitôt. Sur des papiers légers, presque fragiles, trouvés dans la ville, papier de commerce. Les pigments entrent dans la fibre comme dans une terre. Il ne s’agit pas de représenter, mais de laisser prendre.
