55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot. Most Bordeaux at this price point is Merlot based rather than Cabernet dominant, and not common to find older vintages of left bank wines at this value. Ready for drinking now, this is a clean modern style of Bordeaux that will please lovers of smooth ripe Cab-Sav but without the bold firm tannins. This estate was founded in 1919 by Jean Faugere, the grandfather of the current owner, Bernadette Faugere. The 4.76 ha of vines are planted on the slopes overlooking Langon. Serve with a tender roast beef or a well-garnished cheese board.
