The Morning Still

Oil on 36x48 inch canvas. Inspired by Psalm 19. Psalm 19 begins with the heavens declaring the glory of God. The skies speak without words and pour forth their witness. Light rises, the earth awakens, and creation itself reminds us that we are held together by the perfect Creator. The Psalm continues by meditating on the beauty of His law and commands. I love that contrast: God reveals Himself in both the vastness of creation and the nourishment of His word. “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul... More precious than gold, sweeter than honey from the honeycomb.” This painting is a meditation on both of these truths. The dawn sky, the open stillness of nature, the gentle warmth stretching across creation; all of it reflects the new mercies that come to us each morning as we meditate and rest in His word. “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
