As the sole Australian importer, we have secured a highly limited allocation, representing one of the few opportunities remaining worldwide to own what is arguably the most prestigious blended malt in the modern era. This isn't just another age-statement release; it is a finite piece of Scotch Whisky lore that will likely never be replicated. At the time of vatting back in 2015, the Highland Park component, distilled in 2004, was already 10 or 11 years old while the Macallan portion was significantly older. This unusual marriage was then transferred into hand-selected Oloroso Sherry Butts, where it has matured gracefully for a further decade, making the youngest whisky in the vatting 21 Years Old. The "Old Perth" Strategy: When the Morrisons bought the Old Perth brand in 2014, they decided to pivot it away from a standard "blended Scotch" (which contains grain whisky) to a 100% Sherry-matured Blended Malt. To make Old Perth a serious contender, they needed "hero" liquid. Using Macallan isn't just a flex; it’s a statement of intent for the brand. While standard blending often involves dozens of distilleries, the Morrisons recognized that the rich, dried-fruit character of the Macallan and the delicate, heather-honey smoke of the Highland Park were complementary "titans."
