REV1mini DCC Autoreverser
The BLOCKsignalling REV1mini is a compact and fast-acting DCC autoreverser designed to automatically manage track polarity in reversing sections such as loops, wyes, and turntables on DCC model railway layouts. By detecting short circuits caused by polarity mismatches, the REV1mini instantly switches the track feed to prevent layout shutdowns and ensure smooth, uninterrupted operation. When a locomotive enters a reversing section and a polarity conflict occurs, the REV1mini detects the short in under five microseconds and corrects the polarity within 10–20 milliseconds. This rapid response prevents the DCC command station from tripping while allowing trains to pass seamlessly through complex track formations. The REV1mini is designed exclusively for DCC layouts and connects directly to the output of a DCC command station. It is suitable for layouts up to OO/HO scale and is compatible with all DCC systems capable of delivering 2.5A or greater. For protection and reliability, the module automatically shuts down if a persistent short circuit is detected and will repeatedly attempt to restore power once the fault is cleared. Key Features Automatically switches track polarity to prevent short circuits Ideal for reverse loops, wyes, and turntable installations Ultra-fast short circuit detection in less than five microseconds Polarity correction within 10–20 milliseconds Detection threshold approximately 1.75A Prevents DCC command station shutdowns Compatible with all DCC command stations rated at 2.5A or higher Designed for layouts up to OO/HO scale Compact “fit and forget” design with no moving parts Visual LED indication of power and polarity status Compatibility Information For DCC layouts only Must only be connected to the output of a DCC command station Do not connect to DC or AC power supplies Compatible with Hornby HM7000 only when used in DCC track-fed mode Not compatible with 15V DC track power used in HM7000 Bluetooth-only operation Connecting 15V DC may damage the module Operation Overview The REV1mini feeds an isolated section of track where polarity reversal is required. When a train crosses the rail gaps and creates a short, the module instantly swaps the output polarity to remove the short. If a long-term short remains, such as from a derailment, the REV1mini temporarily shuts down to protect itself and automatically retries until the fault is cleared.
