Flock EweNiversity at Peninsula Flock Knits Knitting FUNdamentals 2.5 Florence Miller's Step By Step Cardigan Interested in learning how to knit your first cardigan? The Step by Step Cardigan by Florence Miller is a perfect first foray into the world of garments. The cardigan is made with aran weight yarn, knitted from the top down with a raglan yoke and sleeves that are knitted in the round. Skills Taught: Increases (m1L and m1R), decreases (k2tog and ssk), working in the round, double-knit button band Class Times: 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Wednesdays Dates: October 7, 14 and 21 Class Size: 5 students (age 16+) maximum. A minimum of 3 students must register and pay for the class in order for the class to be held. Fee: $150 for three 2-hour classes Skill Level: Cast on, confident in knit/purl stitches, binding off Materials (to be provided by student) US size 6, 7 and 9 (4mm, 4.5mm, and 5.5mm) (or size required to achieve gauge) circular needles. Length with cord should be 30-37" Eight stitch markers Tapestry needle Scrap yarn or barber cord for holding stitches 4 buttons (All materials are available for purchase at Peninsula Flock Knits. Note that Peninsula Flock Knits has a very limited stock of buttons) Yarn (to be purchased separately): Aran weight yarn (Noro Madara, Fonty 1880, Fonty Super Tweed, etc.) (yarn is available for purchase at Peninsula Flock Knits). Pre-Class Homework: Students will need to make a gauge swatch before the first class to ensure they meet the required gauge and adjust your needle size as needed. Size guide The sizes are designed to fit a natural bust measurement of (75, 85, 95) (105, 115, 125) (135, 145, 155) cm [(29.5, 33.5, 37.5) (41.3, 45.3, 49.2) (53, 57, 61) inches] with approximately 15cm [6 inches] of positive ease. Before beginning your project, measure yourself to determine which size will fit you best. For example, if you measure 90 cm [35½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body) you should knit a size D. A size D slipover has a bust circumference of 105 cm [41¼ inches], which in the given example would give you 15 cm [6 inches] of positive ease.
