Skeena Cherry Scionwood
Skeena Cherry (Prunus avium 'Skeena') Scionwood Grower's Notes (Our Experience): Skeena fills a gap for us between dark, rich, mid-season cherries like Bing and Van and late season cherries like Sweetheart and Hudson. It turns red long before it's ripe and hangs on the tree for a couple of weeks so it's important to protect them from the animal kingdom so you can have them when they are fully ripe. Botanical Specs & Profile: Skeena Cherry is a self-fertile sweet cherry variety developed in Canada that produces large, kidney-shaped fruit with dark red to black skin and firm, dark red flesh. The cherries have a balanced sweet flavor and ripen late in the season, extending the harvest period. The tree features an upright and spreading growth habit that is manageable, entering into production quickly with high yields. It exhibits resistance to fruit splitting and cracking. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5 through 6, it performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. This product is a dormant cutting that will generally be used for grafting onto an existing tree of the same type or onto compatible rootstock. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee grafting success. If you are new to grafting, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on Grafting...'.
