Pisano - Río de los Pájaros Pinot Noir - 2021
This cuvée from the Río de los Pájaros range is made by the Pisano family in Progreso, in the department of Canelones, on a clay-limestone plateau overlooking Montevideo. The vineyard enjoys a temperate climate, under the influence of the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean, whose breezes cool the vines and encourage slow ripening, ideal for a grape as delicate as Pinot Noir. While Tannat remains the family speciality, Daniel Pisano introduced other grape varieties to the estate, brought back from his travels, including Pinot Noir. After fermentation, this wine is aged in barrels for at least five months, a short ageing that preserves the brightness of the fruit, the freshness and the finesse of the tannins. This wine reveals notes of raspberry, black cherry, plum, wild violet, aniseed, sweet spices, incense and a smoky note. The palate is balanced and ripe, enlivened by lovely freshness, with silky, long tannins that lead to a delicate finish.
