A beautifully designed and crafted mid-century bureau by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye, originally retailed through Heal’s and other leading furniture stores. With its clean lines, rich timber and beautifully considered detailing, it’s a striking example of British mid-century design. Constructed entirely from solid Afromosia, the bureau has a wonderful warmth and depth of grain throughout. Three beautifully reeded drawer fronts provide generous storage, while the drop-down front opens to create a practical writing desk, revealing a series of useful internal compartments for stationery and smaller items. The whole piece sits elegantly on a solid Afromosia base, giving it a beautifully balanced and understated silhouette. Its relatively compact proportions make it particularly suited to modern living — offering a dedicated workspace and plenty of storage without taking over a room.
