Burundi Yandaro
BURUNDI Region: Kayanza Altitude: 1,800 MASL Variety: Red Bourbon Process: Honey Producers: 2,341 Smallholder Growers Grown in the hills of northern Burundi, close to the Rwandan border, this coffee benefits from the nearby Kibira Rainforest and the Yandaro river valley. The forest helps keep groundwater and soil nutrition rich, and the mild climate supports slow, even ripening. The result is a cup that's sweet, soft, and wonderfully easy to drink. This lot comes from Yandaro Washing Station, which serves 2,341 smallholders from 22 surrounding hills. Most farm a small plot of Red Bourbon trees, picking by hand and delivering cherry that is floated and hand-sorted on arrival. After pulping, the coffee dries slowly on raised tables for two to three weeks with its mucilage intact, which builds its natural sweetness. In the cup, expect rich honey and smooth vanilla, with a gentle, rounded body. A comforting, sweet filter coffee that's calm and effortless to enjoy. Flavor Notes: Honey, Vanilla Recommended for: Filter Best After: 12 days post roast
