Jessica Blue Bower Art | Bookmark – Red-tailed black cockatoo tail feather |

I found this red-tailed black cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii) feather in northern Queensland, and its barred pattern became this bookmark. The bands across the feather show in white and blue from quill to tip. Printed from my handmade cyanotype on 350gsm recycled card, it makes a good page marker for a birdwatcher’s field guide, where you flick back and forth all day. The sleeve has space for a message, so there’s no need for a separate card. Give it to a bird lover, slip it into a Christmas stocking, or keep it for yourself if you can never walk past a feather on the ground.
