Kumiko Birdsmouth Jig

The Kumiko birdsmouth jig — it helps you get those delicate 90 degree, well, birdsmouths. Clamp it in the vise, drop a strip in the V, and pare with a chisel. You get a clean 90° notch and a little triangle of waste. Two mating plates of 3/4" premium 13-ply Baltic birch, 8" long and a bit over 4" wide. Each plate is 45° on one end so the pair makes the 90° guide. Alignment slots keep the faces registered. Basswood alignment pieces come with it — the pins and the long stop you butt your stock against. No screws, no knobs. Handmade in Kansas.
