Rent the QF Telescope 6M Crane in London & the UK from Moonshine Film. with Dolly Base, Riser & Motorised Remote Head A compact Technocrane-style telescopic system combining long-reach camera movement with dolly tracking for precise, repeatable motion in the studio or on location. The QF Telescope Crane 6m brings the capabilities of a full-size telescopic crane into a more compact production package. With almost 6m of overall arm length and approximately 3.1m of telescopic travel, the crane can dramatically change the camera's position during a shot without requiring the entire dolly or base to move. This gives the crane a substantial range of movement without the physical footprint of a much larger Technocrane. Mounted on a dolly base with riser, the system can combine a conventional ground move with the telescopic extension of the arm, creating complex three-dimensional camera movement from a relatively compact footprint. The system is particularly suited to commercials, music videos, automotive, studio work, VFX, live-action branded content and narrative production where smooth, repeatable camera movement is essential. The QF Telescope is specified with a maximum payload of 25kg, allowing it to accommodate substantial professional camera configurations and remote heads. The crane is mounted on a dolly base with riser, allowing the entire system to travel independently from the telescopic arm. When used on track, the crane can combine: Dolly travel + telescopic extension + pan + tilt + lift + rotation For productions requiring a move to be repeated accurately, the combination of a fixed track path and controlled telescopic movement can also be particularly useful for VFX, product work and commercial shooting. The QF Telescope provides the movement characteristics associated with a compact Technocrane-style system. Depending on the configuration, the operator can control: Pan Tilt Lift Arm extension Arm retraction Dolly movement Head rotation The crane is paired with a motorised remote head, allowing the head operator to control the camera independently from the crane operator. This two-operator workflow gives the system the feel and flexibility of a larger professional telescopic crane while remaining considerably more compact. WHY HIRE THE QF TELESCOPE CRANE FROM MOONSHINE FILM? At Moonshine Film, we can supply the QF Telescope as a complete crane system or build it into a larger production package with cinema cameras, lenses, wireless monitoring, lighting, tracking and experienced crane crew. For demanding shots, we can also help design the movement around your storyboard or reference, including the required track layout, camera configuration and crew. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What payload can it carry? The QF Telescope is specified for a maximum payload of 25kg / 55lb. This provides enough capacity for a wide range of professional cinema-camera configurations and remote heads. Can the crane move on track? Yes. Our configuration uses a dolly base and riser, allowing the crane to be used in a track-based setup. This means the camera can move along the track while simultaneously extending or retracting the telescopic arm. Is the head motorised? Yes. The system is configured with a motorised remote head, allowing the head operator to control camera orientation independently of the crane operator. How many crew are required? For typical operation, we recommend a two-person crane team: 1 × Crane Operator Controls the crane, telescopic movement and overall arm positioning. 1 × Head Operator Controls the motorised remote head and camera framing. Additional crew may be required depending on the camera package, track setup, monitoring requirements and complexity of the shot. How fast can the telescopic arm move? The published QF specification lists a maximum telescopic speed of approximately 1.9m/s. Actual operating speed will depend on the camera payload, shot requirements and configuration. What is the tilt range? The published specification lists approximately ±55° of tilt range. Can Moonshine provide the operators? Yes. Moonshine Film can supply the crane with experienced crane and remote-head operators, as well as additional camera crew depending on the production. Can you build a complete camera package around it? Yes. We can build the QF Telescope into a complete production package with cinema cameras, lenses, remote heads, wireless video, monitoring, lighting, track and experienced crew. If you're unsure whether the QF Telescope or the smaller Scissor Crane is the right system for your shot, send us the reference or storyboard and the Moonshine Film team can recommend the most appropriate setup.
