DuPont AmberLite FPA98 Cl is an acrylic, macroporous, Type I strong base anion exchange resin, engineered for efficient decolorization in food, beverage, and biopharmaceutical applications. Compared to carbon or bone char, ion exchange technology using this resin offers superior and cost-effective color removal. In cane sugar processing, AmberLite FPA98 Cl is ideal for treating highly colored syrups (>500 ICUMSA). It features excellent regeneration with minimal fouling, outperforming polystyrene-based resins. Its robust physical stability and resistance to osmotic shock make it reliable for long-term use. The resin can be used alone for gross decolorization or in combination with styrenic resins (e.g., FPA900 UPS Cl, FPA90RF Cl) as a pre-treatment step before final polishing. In biopharmaceutical processing, the resin effectively adsorbs high molecular weight organic color bodies, such as those found in natural product extraction and antibiotic recovery. Its acrylic matrix supports efficient regeneration and minimizes organic fouling, making it a preferred choice for various bioprocessing needs. 1.
