This exceptional coffee originates from the Kirinyaga region on the fertile, southern slopes of Mount Kenya, a terroir globally renowned for its deep, nutrient-dense volcanic soil and ideal equatorial climate. The coffee is produced by approximately 1,800 smallholder farmers affiliated with the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society. Notably, about 40% of these local producers are women. Each family manages a small plot of land averaging less than half a hectare, carefully tending to roughly 200 coffee trees alongside crops like macadamia, tea, and bananas. Cherries are hand-sorted and delivered to the Kainamui Factory (washing station), which has strictly managed processing quality since 1963.
