Tegu - Kenya

Kenya Tegu is a seasonal Kenyan specialty coffee from Nyeri County, one of Kenya’s most renowned coffee-growing regions. Grown in the highlands near Mount Kenya, this coffee showcases the clarity, brightness and complexity that make Kenyan coffees so distinctive. Produced at Tegu Factory under the Tekangu Farmers’ Cooperative Society, this coffee is created by around 1,200 smallholder farmers, many cultivating small family farms of less than one hectare. The combination of volcanic soils, high altitude and a cool climate provides ideal conditions for developing complex and expressive coffees. After careful hand-picking, only ripe cherries are selected and processed using the traditional washed method. Fermentation and slow drying on raised beds help preserve the coffee’s clean structure and vibrant character. In the cup, Kenya Tegu offers a bright and elegant profile with notes of sweet strawberries and butterscotch.
