Workshop: Grow Your Own Cut Flowers with Killruddery Gardener Annette Daly
Killruddery Member ticket: €120 Standard ticket: €132 Sunday 6th of September Time: 10AM - 4PM ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP Step into your garden and pick armfuls of flowers for your home. In this workshop you will gain expert advice about how to grow your own flowers drawn from our experience of growing and harvesting cut flowers at Killruddery. Learn how to create a cutting garden that provides flowers from March to November, with practical guidance on everything from seed sowing and propagation to soil preparation, mulching, staking and succession planting. We'll cover the most productive hardy and half-hardy annuals, biennials, and other bulbs, as well as the techniques that help maximise flowers in any space, large or small. We will take you on a tour of our cutting beds for practical demonstrations of how we grow, harvest and condition flowers - furthering your journey towards filling your home with beautiful bouquets and buckets of homegrown abundance. This course is taught by Annette Daly with some lean in from our florists It is a lecture with slides format and practical demos It is held in our Killruddery Flower Studio and in our Cut Flower Beds The day lasts from 10am until 4pm with tea/coffee on arrival and a long table lunch in our Award Winning Grain Store restaurant WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR? This workshop will suit all levels of interested flower gardeners ABOUT KILLRUDDERY FLOWERS Earth friendly flowers - grown here Killruddery Flowers are grown here with the seasons, letting the soil, sun and sky guide what blooms in the south-facing border of our Walled Garden. We pick them fresh in the early mornings or late evenings and create arrangements in our dedicated Flower Studio in Killruddery Yard. From fine anemones to armfuls of colourful dahlias, feathery Nigella and the tall stems topped with creamy-white bell flowers of regal Solomon's Seal, Killruddery Flowers designs chemical-free arrangements for all our special occasions. ABOUT ANNETTE DALY One of the key gardeners on this Cut Flower project is Annette. Annette joined the Killruddery gardening team in 2022. She studied Garden Design, Parks and Supervision, and Horticulture, she also has a background in fine art education, which informs her sensitivity to colour, texture and form. A life long gardener, she works with a deep respect for biodiversity and the habitats each plant supports.
