Abstract Designer Rug 2 × 5 ft (140 × 75 cm) Red & Grey | 16069
Contemporary Designer · Wool & Natural Silk · Executive Quality Abstract Designer Rug 140 × 75 cm · Red & Grey An exclusive contemporary designer rug, hand-knotted in fine Tibetan highland wool and natural silk. An abstract composition in red and grey, where the silk catches the light and lifts the design like brushwork on canvas. An Abstract Composition This is a piece of modern art for the floor. A deep red ground is broken and eroded by drifts of grey, silver and ivory, the way weather wears colour from a painted wall — an abstract, painterly design with no two areas alike. There is no border and no repeat: the eye moves freely across the surface, and the rug reads differently from every angle as the light shifts across the silk. Material and Weave The pile blends two-thirds Tibetan highland wool with one-third natural silk (66% wool, 34% silk). The wool gives body, warmth and durability; the silk lends sheen and depth, picking up the light in the lighter passages of the design. It is hand-knotted with the Tibetan knot, with a pile height of roughly 8–10 mm over a pure cotton foundation. Executive Quality · 150 kpsi This rug belongs to the Executive quality tier — a rare, fine 150 kpsi (knots per square inch), which works out to roughly 232,500 knots per square metre. That density is what allows the soft gradations and fine detail of the abstract design to be drawn so precisely in knots. Presence in the Room At 140 × 75 cm (1.05 m²) this is a small accent piece — versatile precisely because of its size: Entry or hallway: a striking welcome by the door, where its art draws the eye on arrival. Bedside or reading corner: a soft, luminous landing spot beside a bed or chair. On the wall: fine enough to hang as a textile artwork, the silk shimmering under gallery light.
