HMS Cook K638 Bay Class Frigate 1951 Photo Print

HMS Cook (K638) Royal Navy Bay Class Frigate at anchor in April 1951 shown in a port bow view. The photograph captures the former frigate following her conversion for hydrographic work creating a distinctive Royal Navy photo print for military wall art displays survey vessel collections and admirers of British maritime history. The vessel was originally ordered as the Loch Class Frigate Loch Mochrum before the contract was changed and she was laid down to a revised Bay Class design on 30th November 1944. Launched as Pegwell Bay on 24th September 1945 she was later taken to HM Dockyard Devonport for conversion into a survey ship with work beginning in February 1948 and completing in July 1950. She was subsequently renamed Cook and given the pennant number A307.
