2026 Protero ROSE 111 (New Release)

2026 Nebbiolo Rosé 111 Aromas/Flavours: Fragrant strawberry, white peach, rose petal, mandarin. Palate: A clean, fruit-driven, crisp wine with flavours of rose petal, red cherry, musk and citrus, especially pink grapefruit. A lengthy, fine, seductive palate with balanced fresh acidity, finishing with hints of peach skin and mandarin peel. Rosé is a simple wine to make well, and an easy one to make poorly — much like Italian cooking, the fewer the steps, the more it relies on the quality of what goes in. This is Fleurieu Nebbiolo fruit good enough to have gone into a red, given the rosé treatment instead. Goes with: A beautiful wine to start a meal with, especially a seafood entrée of prawns, tuna carpaccio, smoked salmon, sushi or sashimi. Equally at home with prosciutto and melon, goats cheese, risotto, or a pork or chicken dish. My favourite pairing: grilled prawns, or Greek-style prawns baked in tomato and feta. SCP
