Set of 2 Wooden Marking Gauges, Stanley No. 71 & Antique Mortise Scribe
Set of two antique/vintage wooden woodworking marking gauges (scribes), sold together. This set includes: • Stanley No. 71 marking gauge with adjustable sliding beam and original maker's stamp, dating to the 1930’s – 1950’s. • Earlier wooden mortise/marking gauge, likely dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s, with brass wear plates and wooden locking screw. Both tools measure approximately 9 inches long and are in good vintage working condition. The Stanley slides smoothly for adjustment, and both locking mechanisms function as intended. Each gauge is marked with a previous owner's name: • McLean on the Stanley gauge. • B. Rees on the earlier gauge. Both have age-related patina from years of workshop use. The brass fittings show expected wear, and the wood has scratches, dings, and darkened areas consistent with age and use.
