Glazing with Confidence- September
Monday August 10th 5pm-9pm Glazing is a process that can feel daunting, messy and confusing for many artists. In fact you may not be familiar with the basic properties of glaze itself or know why glazes are the colors they are. This course is all about demystifying the glazing process in order to help you achieve the results that you want and actually expect ! This course is a 4 hour workshop that is designed to be accessible for beginners but is also the perfect brush up course for folks that have more experience with glazing. This workshop seeks to equip you with the information you need to make more informed glazing decisions and eliminate some of those question marks floating around over your head. Class will run from 4-9 on Saturday, August 10th. The first half will feature a lecture and demos (you will receive a multi page handout and plenty of time to take notes/ask questions.) We will take the second half to practice the skills you’ve learned on your own work! We encourage you to bring 1-5 pieces of bisque to glaze but can provide practice bisqued items if needed. We will cover an introduction to new Wildling studio Dipping glazes, intro to brushing Commercial glazes, the difference between common surface design materials such as underglaze and stroke n coat, How to effectively layer glazes, troubleshooting common glaze defects and Where to find valuable educational resources ! If your glaze results end in a surprise more often than you’d like this class is a perfect opportunity to start glazing with confidence ! Cancelation Policy: If you need to cancel due to any reason, Wildling needs two full weeks before the class start date for you to receive a credit towards another class. We require 4 week notice to issue a full refund. Wildling Collaborative Arts is an Artists Collective in Eugene OR founded in 2023. We offer a membership ceramics studio which is the only 24/7 ceramics studio in Eugene. Wildling was found by local Eugene Artists with the intention of creating a community space that is accessible and inclusive. Wildling provides a living wage to all of their employees, giving local artist a dependable salary so they can support their families and the local economy. We host workshops and classes in our large classroom space as well as offer private studios for local small businesses in Eugene. We are also home to Viking Textile Makers Space, a textile makers space founded here in Eugene by Mitra Gruwell. We have recently opened up our Clay and Arty supply store which also serves as a gallery space to host the works of local Eugene artists. We are active in the Whitaker community and participate in the Whitaker Last Friday Art Walk. Wildling Collaborative Arts is an accessible and inclusive space.
