Volcanic Bomb with Olivine / Peridot

This specimen is a “Volcanic Bomb” that literally flew through the air after getting blasted from a volcano! What makes these stones so special are the gorgeous green crystals found inside. This mineral called Olivine (gem name Peridot) forms at some of the hottest temperatures inside our Earth. During explosive volcanic eruptions, this material sometimes gets ejected from the volcano. As it flys through the air, it twists and cools creating aerodynamic shapes. Once found, these rocks are cut in half to display the incredible crystals inside. This specimen is a single, not a pair. Discovered underwater off the coast of Guadalupe Island, Mexico! Lobster divers sometimes find and collect these amazing specimens.
