Parodia mutabilis

Parodia mutabilis is a charming little cactus with plenty of personality, featuring a rounded, ribbed body covered in neat clusters of fine spines. Its compact shape and beautifully structured growth make it an easy one to find space for—even if your cactus collection is already getting slightly out of hand! Native to South America, Parodia species are known for their attractive forms and beautiful flowers. As Parodia mutabilis matures, it can produce lovely blooms from the crown of the plant, creating a wonderful contrast against its spiny body. Despite its exotic appearance, this cactus is refreshingly easy to look after. Give it a bright, sunny position and plant it in a specialist, free-draining cactus compost. During spring and summer, water thoroughly and then allow the compost to dry before watering again. In autumn and winter, keep watering to a minimum and always protect the plant from frost. Compact, characterful and wonderfully spiky, Parodia mutabilis makes a great choice for beginners as well as seasoned cactus collectors.
