Black Silk Covered Hat with Black Trim RESERVED

**LISTING RESERVED FOR KATE** 18th century straw hat covered in black silk taffeta on top and ivory silk taffeta on the underside. Hat is trimmed with gathered silk ribbon trim and a 5 loop bow. Cream silk ribbon ties. Hat measures 14 1/2" across with a 1/2" tall crown. The black and ivory silk covering crown have been pieced. Trim is based on a runaway ad from the New York Gazette, May 19, 1760. "a black satin or straw hat, with two rows of flouncing round the brim, besides what goes round the crown."
