American Persimmon

American persimmon is a first-class timber tree with edible fruit that deserves to be more widely planted in Australian gardens. Male and female trees are required for fruiting, and frost improves fruit flavour. Astringent when green, becoming sweeter when mature, the fruit can be eaten straight from the tree.
