Description Glossy leaflets fan out from each stem like the spokes of a tiny umbrella, splashed with cream and soft yellow against deep green. Full, bushy and cheerful, the umbrella tree has been a houseplant favourite for decades for good reason: it's forgiving, it's fast, and it takes well to a trim, so you can keep it neat and tabletop-sized or let it grow into a proper little indoor tree. An easy, upbeat plant that brings a lot of life to a corner. Size: 9" pot, roughly 24" tall and 22" across Light Bright, indirect light keeps the variegation vivid. It adapts to a range of conditions, but the cream and yellow markings fade toward plain green in low light, so the brighter the spot, the better the colour. Water Let the top inch or two of soil dry between waterings, keeping it lightly moist but never soggy, since overwatering is the one thing that leads to root rot. A drooping, softening plant usually means too much water, not too little. Keeping it bushy It responds beautifully to pruning. Pinch or trim the growing tips and it branches out fuller, so a quick trim now and then keeps it dense rather than leggy. Pet safety Not pet safe. Schefflera is toxic to cats and dogs if chewed, and it's one that cats in particular like to nibble, so a spot out of reach is wise.
