Step Fruit pods are long interesting seed pod of the Delonix regia tree found across tropical Asia. When dried, these unique woody pods make great additions to natural bioactive enclosures and biotope aquascapes on the botanical method. Isopods and springtails enjoy colonizing step fruit, and our dart frogs will use them as a ramp to climb to the top of cork bark. Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use: Boil: Boil the pods for at least 15 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins. Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached. Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.
