Ainslie’s Royal Edinburgh Choice Scotch Whisky 1970's
70 Proof 26 fl ozs A distinguished old blend with a strong following in Belgium and no wonder, when you read the tasting notes which suggest a high malt content. Nose It starts with grain, some glue (vanishes quickly), dried fruits (sherry), sugar, tinned peach, apricot jam, honey. It's slightly smoky and oily (engine oil), and has a salty character of Arbroath smokies with peat. Later it becomes a little more citric (mainly oranges). Taste Oily, but not very thick, with sufficient power/oomph, not too sweet. The darker side shows, with dark smoky tea (lapsang souchong), salt, dried fish. Then, oloroso influences (oxidized sherry), dates, almonds, walnuts, grain and barley, honey, and fennel. Unbelievably complex, dirty and fruity together. Finish Medium long, savoury, nutty, earthy: ginger, herbs, liquorice, some smoke, roasted nuts. This product is located in Australia.
