Shusui is the Doitsu (scaleless) version of Asagi, developed in Japan by combining traditional Asagi with German mirror carp. Instead of the familiar net-like reticulation across the back, Shusui display a distinctive row of large mirror scales running neatly along the dorsal line, complemented by vibrant red (Hi) markings over smooth scaleless skin. This young Nisai displays a well-balanced body, crisp dorsal scaling and clean white skin with attractive Hi patterning that should continue to develop as the koi matures.
