Gio Ponti Arthur Krupp Milano Cups and Saucers 1950s
A set of six cups and saucers in silver-plated metal, marked Krupp Milano. The form is spare and architecturally resolved: a wide shallow bowl on a waisted foot with a squared angular handle, and a flat circular saucer of generous proportion. The classic shape of an Italian caffè or macchiato cup. Each piece marked Krupp Milano to the handle. Gio Ponti's collaboration with Arthur Krupp Milano, the leading Italian silver-plated tableware manufacturer of the mid-twentieth century, produced some of the most collected pieces in Italian decorative arts.
