Intermediate Level 11 1/4" x 5 3/4" 233 pieces. "African Grey" is the Eleventh Release in the "Lost Patterns" Series. Judy Gale Roberts originally created this pattern for herself as she mourned the recent loss of a long-time friend, her African Grey, named "Jiminy". She completed the project and kept Jiminy close to her desk as she worked, just as the real Jiminy had always been. He was very talkative and bright and entertained us all, often whistling the Andy Griffith theme or calling "Judy!", "Judy!" or telling the doggies when they barked to "sh-h-h!" He was a part of her heart and she missed him greatly when he suddenly passed. He will be forever in all of our hearts and a little reminder of the joy his happy companionship brought and now, you can add his charming personality to your collection of all-time great animals that Judy Gale Roberts took such joy in. Of the two subspecies of African Grey, Jimmy was a Temneh African Grey, which is a little darker charcoal grey than the Congo African Grey with his lighter silver gray and the Congo has a solid black beak versus the Temneh's lighter shade of upper beak. Woods Used: Judy used a combination of darker shades of Peruvian Walnut and both dark and medium shades of Blue Pine as well as lighter shades of wood for the upper beak and head. Suggested Blades: Platinum Plus #3 and Platinum Plus #5 and Platinum #5 were used for the larger cuts and sections, then a Platinum Plus #2/0 was used for the inner cuts to separate the pieces.
