Selene Scarf

A large square silk scarf printed with two white hares in a moonlit garden, where irises open in blush and lilac and golden vines run across a deep green ground.The painting is loose and wet-looking, closer to gouache than to line work. Two ivory hares sit low in the composition, one turned away, one looking back, their coats catching the same pale light that picks out the petals. Around them the garden goes dark: forest green, near-black, plum, with fine gold stems threading through it and a scatter of small light specks that read as stars. A narrow tonal border in deep green closes the square.The silk is fine and softly lustrous, so the ground shifts between green and black as it folds and the hares appear and disappear with it.
