Quatrefoil Sterling Silver Open Locket Necklace
This sterling silver open locket necklace features layered quatrefoil detailing across two moving silver panels. Architectural yet softly decorative, the pendant combines etched texture, depth and movement in a design that remained popular in Simone's jewellery collection for many years. This quatrefoil silver pendant necklace was first created around 2013 and remained part of Simone's jewellery range for several years before eventually being retired. This is the final remaining piece available - it's part of our From the Archives range. The pendant is constructed from two separate sterling silver panels suspended together in an open locket style. The front panel features a quatrefoil window cut directly through the silver, revealing a second moving panel behind it. On the rear panel, a smaller version of the same quatrefoil motif has been etched into the silver surface and softly blackened within the recessed areas to highlight the pattern. The result creates a layered "pattern within pattern" effect that shifts subtly as the two panels move independently. Although architectural in form, the necklace has a soft and wearable quality thanks to the movement of the suspended panels and the bright polished silver finish. The pendant catches light beautifully as it moves, creating gentle contrast between the polished surfaces and the darkened etched detailing. The open locket construction also gives the pendant more visual depth than a flat silver necklace, while still remaining lightweight and comfortable to wear. The pendant is suspended from a delicate sterling silver chain adjustable from 45cm to 55cm. It works beautifully worn alone with v-neck, scoop or collared necklines, while also layering easily with longer silver necklaces. Please note that although inspired by the form of a locket, this open locket design is not intended to hold photographs or keepsakes. The quatrefoil motif also appears elsewhere in the archive collection, including the mixed metal quatrefoil pendant and stud earrings, connecting the pieces through a shared decorative form interpreted in different ways.
