‘Set In Stone’ By Amy Irizarry

18” x 24” Acrylic on Canvas This piece was inspired by the title of having the opportunity to be feature on the local news the same day with this musician. I was inspired with the name of the his new album name. ‘Set In Stone’ I have been inspired by the artist @kehindewiley and his artistic style. He’s well known for his portrait of previous president Obama. I love how he translates academic practice of oil paints with storytelling of celebrities in a fine art classical way. I created a stone bust sculpture of my favorite pose of a picture in GQ Magazine. This image to me shows a different side of his personality, humor, and altogether comfort in his success. The pear trees in the back represent present life and prosperity, they show a visual example of how his legacy (stone Bust) will continue on but the fruit will end or die.
