De Cuijlen, established by the Dutch East India Company in the late 17th century, is recognised as one of the earliest dairy farms in South Africa. Situated near present-day Kuils River in the Western Cape, the farm played an important role in supplying fresh dairy products, meat, and other agricultural goods to passing ships. As the Cape settlement expanded, De Cuijlen became a vital part of the colony's agricultural network, demonstrating the importance of farming in sustaining both the local population and international trade routes.
