"Children I Don't Know" Original Soundtrack(CD)
Director Miwa Nishikawa’s latest film, *The Children I Don’t Know*, tells the story of the “unknown children” who actually existed in postwar Japan, with Marihiko Hara providing the accompanying soundtrack.Featuring piano-centered chamber music, field recordings, and electronic sounds—the music, created around the theme of “strength within silence,” quietly brings to the surface lost time, unspoken emotions, and the memories of nameless individuals. This is a new film score by Marihiko Hara, who won the Japan Academy Prize for Best Music for *National Treasure*.The Tohoku Youth Orchestra, which 坂本龍一 helped found, performs some of the film’s musical pieces. The sounds of these young musicians—a group born out of the Great East Japan Earthquake—lend a profound resonance to the film’s prayer-like atmosphere. A soundtrack that resonates deeply even beyond the screen, like a prayer.
