PNW Autumn Trail Driving: Rain, Mud Traction & Self-Recovery Tactics A stunning fall drive through the shadow of three volcanic peaks, waterfalls, and fern-lined forest roads. This is less classroom, more community: a laid-back beginner-friendly day built for meeting fellow van owners, learning how to boondock, and enjoying the PNW at its best. Spend a Saturday in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest surrounded by autumn color. We'll practice basic traction skills along the way, not as a formal curriculum, but as hands-on moments built into a beautiful drive. Stick around Saturday night and learn to boondock. We won't have a set campsite picked in advance (which is kind of fun, right?) instead, we'll work together to scout a spot using the same apps and safety checks we rely on ourselves. If you've never boondocked before, this is a real, hands-on first time doing it with experienced help nearby instead of figuring it out alone. Overnight camping is optional, if the rain and cold chase you away, there's no pressure to stick around.
