Clean & Prepare — Stages 1 + 2 Professionally clean and prepare your waxed garment for restoration. Over time, dirt, grime, old wax, oils, stains and other contaminants can build up throughout a well-worn waxed garment. The Clean & Prepare service combines Stages 1 + 2 of the Artisan’s Son Garment Restoration Process, providing a thorough clean of both the outer shell and inner garment before further treatment. This service is ideal for garments that require cleaning and preparation before re-waxing. What Does Clean & Prepare Include? 1 Outer Garment Cleaning & De-Waxing The outer shell is carefully hand-cleaned to remove accumulated surface dirt, grime, old wax, oils and contaminants. Our specialist cleaning process is designed specifically for waxed cotton, canvas and oilskin fabrics. No solvents are used. Solvents can damage or weaken waxed fabrics and are therefore not used in our cleaning process. 2 Inner Garment Cleaning The inner lining is carefully spot-treated for stains before being cleaned and deodorised. This provides a thorough clean of the unwaxed interior without damaging the waxed outer shell. The result is a cleaner, fresher garment that is properly prepared for further restoration. The 5-Stage Garment Restoration Process Our complete restoration system is designed to clean, restore, protect and finish your garment. 1 Outer Garment Cleaning & De-Waxing The outer shell is carefully hand-cleaned to remove old waxes, oils and accumulated surface contaminants. 2 Inner Garment Cleaning The inner lining is spot-treated for stains, then cleaned and deodorised without damaging the waxed outer shell. 3 Whole Garment Mould, Bacteria & Odour Treatment The entire garment is treated to address mould, bacteria and persistent odours throughout both the outer shell and inner lining. Stage 3 is only available as part of the Stage 5 Complete Garment Restoration treatment. 4 Garment Re-Waxing 2–3 coats of Artisan’s Son Premium Wax-Based Fabric Wax are applied by hand to restore water resistance and weather protection. The wax is heat-treated to encourage even penetration throughout the outer fabric. 5 Finishing & Quality Assurance The garment receives a detailed final inspection and hand finishing. Excess wax is removed from buttons, collars, zippers and other details, while the overall finish, protection and presentation are checked before final quality assurance sign-off. Place Your Order Place your order via the 'Add to Cart' button above or through 'Shop'. Proceed with the payment method of your choice. Once your order has been received, a confirmation email will be sent to you confirming the appropriate shipping address for sending your garment to us. Our service address is located in metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia, helping keep return shipping costs as low as possible. 2. Ship Your Garment Send your garment to us via a method of your choice: A prepaid Australia Post satchel (most common) A padded mailer A suitable box or courier service Please ensure your name is clearly included inside the parcel or printed on the outside of the parcel so we can identify your garment when it arrives. You are responsible for sending your garment to us and for the associated postage costs. 3. Restoration Once your garment arrives into our workshop, a confirmation email will be sent. Our team will do an initial assessment to ensure proper treatment can be carried out. The team will then carry out the treatment selected at checkout. Please allow approximately 1–2 weeks from receipt of the garment to completion of the service. 4. Return Shipping Once the service is complete, your garment will be shipped back to you. You'll receive a confirmation email containing your tracking details once your garment has been dispatched. Return shipping is included in the service price. Garment Repairs & Alterations Garment alterations, fixing and mending can be performed in conjunction with our fabric cleaning and waxing services.
