Turn Back Time with Turning Tablets: An Intro To Tablet Weaving | December 6, 2026

This is a 1 session in-person workshop. DATES/TIMES Sunday, December 6, 2026; 12 - 4pm COST $155 – Class only (bring your own loom) $170 – Class + Loom Rental (limited quantities available; select this option when registering) $40 materials fee – Pay directly to the instructor at the beginning of class (cash or Venmo). Includes yarn, tablets and shuttle. LEVEL Beginner MATERIALS Not included: - Loom (bring your own or rent from us) If you're bringing your own loom, several setups work well for tablet weaving, and many are easy to make yourself (see loom options below). Included: - Yarn, tablets and shuttle. Instructor will provide all materials for your project, (covered by the $40 materials fee) DETAILS Learn the basics of tablet weaving while you recreate a 10th Century band from Norway. Tablet weaving creates strong, decorative, and relatively narrow bands and is a very accessible choice for entering the world of weaving due to the simplicity of the equipment needed to get started. In this class you will gain an understanding of how to read a pattern, warp the cards, and get started on your band. We will talk a little history with a focus on the time period of our band and touch on some of the different approaches you may come across when carrying on with your tablet weaving journey. Loom Options You have a variety of options to use as a "loom" and many are very easy to DIY. An inkle loom or other dedicated band loom Two C-clamps or another peg system with adjustable spacing A rigid heddle loom used without the heddle A backstrap weaving setup (recommended for experienced backstrap weavers) Wrapping board Also see this Pinterest board for more loom ideas!
