Concave Wooden Rosemaling Bowl
This wooden Rosemaling bowl is a stunner! First, the artwork is impeccable. Painted by Ragnhild Slåttun of Porsgrunn in 1977, the strokes are confident and strong. Ragnhild knew her Rosemaling! The colors are gorgeous against the natural wood grain; greens, red and orange tones, beige and tans with dark brown accents, knowing color combinations is vital in good Rosemaling. The piece is signed by the artist, R.S 1977 on the bottom. The shape of the bowl itself is unique. It’s concave being narrowing along the rim than the base. It sits raised on its small incorporated pedestal. The bottom shows evidence of the woodworking. To be 50 years old, this bowl is in remarkable shape. We can’t see a crack, dent or scratch. Someone has loved this bowl, and to be honest, it’s hard to let it go! Porsgrunn, Norway The bowl’s diameter is around 11″ at it’s widest and it sits 4.5″ tall. It weighs 10oz.
