In 1941 the Chesapeake & Ohio placed an order with Greenville for well-hole flatcars. As-built the cars were delivered in railroad roman type lettering, but as the C&O developed new scheme promoting its “for Progress” logo look, the freight car fleet was getting repainted into this gothic-style look which included a 3” stripe, though the stripe was removed as a standard application in 1969, cars which already received it wore it until being repainted into a Chessie System merger scheme. The fleet consisted of four 125 Ton capacity 52-foot flatcars and three 130 Ton capacity 62-foot cars. These cars were painted all black. This set has enough data to do 1 car. The 55-foot and 62-foot Greenville well hole flatcars have been produced by Funaro & Camerlengo as resin kits. Both length versions were imported in brass by Overland Models. Also, Quality Craft made craftsman kits for both cars too.
