DARKEST BEFORE (with slight misprint)

I have one Darkest Before here in stock and ready for despatch. However, it has a small misprint done by the screen-printers, please see the photographs. Otherwise brand new, boxed and ready to ship and £100 off the usual price. I will not be building any more of these, so last chance if you missed out. Darkest Before is an update to the Heavy Load which I first built back in 2012: The Fuzz side now has an added DRIVE control which varies the amount of saturation. This is different to a normal fuzz control and has a more dramatic effect throughout its range. The Boost side has also received minor updates to improve the signal to noise ratio. Essentially, this is a combined silicon fuzz and treble booster with all controls interactive with each other. The boost section is placed permanently after the fuzz so engaging boost will increase overall volume. Having spent the last Month or so testing the prototype, there are tons of sounds to be found with both boost and fuzz engaged, more than I could possibly go into here, but particular fun can be had advancing the fuzz volume with the boost engaged which produces all kinds of musical harmonics and overtones. The build and the parts: Just like the original Heavy Load, I am building the circuits for this small run on tag-board using modern, low noise components. The gain within Darkest Before can get very high indeed and therefore low noise components become more important. The high quality modern parts I am using here also mean better reliability. Darkest Before is strictly limited to 27 units. I will not be revisiting this project. Darkest Before is powered by external power only (9 volts). I have decided not to offer an option for battery. Finish and screen printing is professionally done in white gloss and black text to the top and back.
