All About Love: The Poetics of Resistance! Friday 19th June 6:30pm How can love pave the way for a poetics of resistance? Join Dr. Mona Manjot Dhaliwal for a workshop that explores themes of freedom, beauty and hope inspired by bell hook’s seminal book, All about Love. In this workshop, we will examine an eclectic array of poems from bell hooks to Mona Arshi to Emily Dickinson while exploring poetic techniques and qualities of resistance. This friendly, relaxed workshop will offer an opportunity to delve into the transformational qualities of love, and how it relates to resistance through an insistence on freedom and expressions of hopeful imaginaries. Come and engage in rich conversations, meet new and old friends and craft two poems. Dr Mona Manjot Dhaliwal has published poetry with Covert Magazine, Renard Press and Eche Poetry Journal. Manjot has over 15 years of teaching experience. Her research examines the wider implications of feminist poetics, exploring how poetry gives voice to unclaimed spaces, uncovers overlooked voices and produces alternative narratives. Manjot has run poetry programming for the past four years. She was previously funded by the Arts Council of England and the Baobab Community fund. Manjot also runs the community poetry project, The Neighbour’s Garden which produced the zine, “Re-membering South Asian Feminist Poetics’.
