Vintage EGO Stengods Table Lamp, Cobalt Blue Fish Motif Stoneware
A rare and characterful vintage table lamp by the highly collectible Swedish studio EGO Stengods Ateljé, produced in Lidköping, Sweden during the 1960s. The lamp base is crafted in the studio's signature stoneware, with a deeply textured bark-effect body in warm brown — a technique closely associated with EGO Stengods and its principal designers Bruno Karlsson and Willi Fischer. Set against this richly tactile surface are three raised cobalt blue glazed fish, beautifully detailed and applied in high relief, creating a striking contrast between the matte earthen body and the glossy, jewel-like glaze of the fish. The tapered rectangular column form is bold and architectural — a piece with genuine presence and sculptural quality that works as beautifully as a decorative object as it does as a working lamp. EGO Stengods Ateljé operated from 1966 to 1988 and is increasingly sought after by collectors of Scandinavian mid-century ceramics. Pieces by this studio are held in private collections across Europe and North America. Original maker's mark stamped to the base. Rewired with new components to current European safety standards. Ready to use with a standard E27 bulb. A complementary handmade shade can be made to order — please contact us to discuss fabric options and sizing.
